The attacks affected everyone. Many muslims also died in the attacks. 1,200 Arabs and muslims were also among the victims, which is more than 41% of all deaths. We know that this is a very memorable sight for many, and a place where many of people's loved ones died, but think about the muslims who have been affected as well. They have also lost their loved ones, and they are receiving anti-muslim discrimination. Muslims since the 9/11 attacks are being affected physically, and their life's are also being very negatively impacted, such as loosing their jobs.
The muslims have said many times that the terrorists that are doing these horrible things do not actually follow Islam, but in fact just say that they are doing it in the name of Islam.Even though it is a very memorable sight, and is a very sensitive area for many, the building will not be “hovering” over ground zero, as it is not very tall, and not in ground zero itself.
Argument 2:
Building this mosque, would do american muslims a lot of justice. 75% of american muslims either has had, or known someone who has had anti-muslim discrimination since the 9/11 attacks. Muslims have lost about 40% of their business post since 9/11, and 18,000 muslims have been deported. Overall, about 500,000 muslims have been affected by these attacks.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
