Closing Statement:
To sum up, the Ground Zero Mosque serves no purpose since there is already a mosque 2 blocks away. To add to that, there aren’t a lot of Muslims in New York anyway and they still have over 100 mosques in New York. The purpose can be assumed as a victory ground for Al-Qaeda after the 9/11 attack. This will hurt Muslims extremely since other Americans will not take the “victory monument” positively. The mosque would also be a target of anti-muslim views. To conclude, the Ground Zero Mosque should not be built in order to avoid hatred, prejudice, and racism.
The people aren't discriminating nor segregating the Muslims. There are over 100 mosques in New York, not to mention one 4 blocks away from Ground Zero. They would not go to such an extent as to leaving America altogether. This would be a minor inconvenience at the least.
Argument #1:
The Ground Zero Mosque would be like a victory monument. Since the 9/11 attack was made by Al-Qaeda in the name of Islam, building the center would be assuming that the attacked land is claimed by the Muslims. There is even more evidence related to the Ground Zero Mosque being a victory ground. The center was going to be named the Corboda House. Corboda is a city in Spain which was conquered by the Muslims. The name “Corboda House” symbolizes the victory the Muslims had in Spain and comparing it to the 9/11 attack.
Opening Statement: “Nazis don’t have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington,” former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich said. “We would never accept the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor. There’s no reason for us to accept a mosque next to the World Trade Center.” The Islamic Center’s location, which is near the 9/11 attack, is inappropriate and could be moved to a different area.
